Understanding Vehicle Damage Architecture

GTA 5 vehicles use a multi-layer damage system combining mesh deformation, part separation, and texture overlays. The vehicle model includes a high-detail mesh for normal state and deformation data that defines how vertices shift during impacts. Breakable parts like doors, bumpers, hoods, and trunk lids are defined as separate mesh groups that can detach when damage exceeds thresholds. Enhancing Deformation Quality
