GTA 5 actually contains complete snow weather data — snow-covered textures, snowfall particles, and icy road physics — that Rockstar only activates for a few days each December in GTA Online. How It Works

The Snow Mod works by activating GTA 5's native Christmas weather type, known internally as XMAS weather. When enabled, the game automatically applies snow ground textures, activates snowfall particle effects, adds ice physics to road surfaces, and adjusts ambient lighting for a winter atmosphere. Because it uses the game's own built-in snow system rather than custom replacement textures, it's incredibly lightweight and compatible with virtually every other mod.

Toggle Controls

Press a configurable hotkey (default: F9) to instantly toggle snow on or off during gameplay. Some versions include additional options: snow intensity control (light dusting to blizzard), snowball throwing ability, and the option to persist snow settings between game sessions. The toggle is instant — no loading screens or game restart required.

Snow vs Winter Mod Complete

This Snow Mod uses GTA 5's native snow system, which provides basic snow coverage and weather effects with zero performance cost. For a more thorough winter transformation with custom 4K snow textures, frozen lakes, and comprehensive vegetation changes, consider the Winter Mod Complete. Many players use the Snow Mod for quick, casual winter gameplay and switch to the full Winter Mod for dedicated winter roleplay sessions.

Installation

Requires Script Hook V. Simply place the ASI file in your GTA 5 root directory — no OpenIV or file replacement needed. The mod is completely non-destructive and can be removed by deleting the single ASI file. Compatible with LSPDFR, all graphics mods, vehicle add-ons, and Christmas decoration mods for the complete holiday package.
