LA Roads - Realistic Road Textures for GTA 5 2026 for GTA 5

LA Roads — Photorealistic Road Textures for GTA 5 (2026)

LA Roads replaces all road and sidewalk textures in GTA 5 with high-resolution, photorealistic versions based on actual Los Angeles streets. This mod transforms the ground you drive on into something remarkably lifelike, with realistic asphalt, lane markings, cracks, and curbs.

What LA Roads Changes

Element Vanilla LA Roads
Road Surface Low-res, flat textures 4K photoscanned asphalt with wear patterns
Lane Markings Generic painted lines Realistic LA-style lane markers and arrows
Sidewalks Uniform concrete Varied concrete with cracks, patches, stains
Curbs Simple geometry Detailed curbs with color coding (red, yellow, white)
Intersections Basic crosswalks Detailed crosswalks, stop lines, turn arrows
Highway Surface Same as city roads Different asphalt type with expansion joints
Dirt Roads Low detail High-res dirt with tire tracks and ruts

Installation

  1. Download LA Roads from GTA5-Mods.com
  2. Open OpenIV and enable Edit Mode
  3. Navigate to mods/x64a.rpf, mods/x64b.rpf, and other texture RPFs
  4. Use the OIV package installer if provided — select "Install to mods folder"
  5. Alternatively, manually replace .ytd texture files in the appropriate locations:
    • mods/x64a.rpf/textures/
    • mods/x64b.rpf/textures/
    • mods/x64c.rpf/textures/
  6. Launch the game — road textures apply automatically

Versions Available

Version Resolution VRAM Usage Best For
LA Roads 2K 2048x2048 +500 MB Mid-range GPUs (6-8 GB VRAM)
LA Roads 4K 4096x4096 +1.5 GB High-end GPUs (8-12 GB VRAM)
LA Roads Lite 1024x1024 +200 MB Lower-end systems

Compatibility

  • Graphics mods — fully compatible with NVE, QuantV, VisualV, and ENB presets
  • Map mods — compatible unless they replace the same road texture files
  • Vehicle mods — no conflicts (different file types)
  • Other texture packs — may conflict with mods that also replace road .ytd files; install LA Roads last
  • FiveM/FivePD — can be used on FiveM servers if the server allows client-side texture mods

Performance Impact

  • The 2K version has negligible FPS impact on most systems
  • The 4K version may cause 2-5 FPS drop on systems with limited VRAM
  • Road textures are always visible, so they're constantly loaded — VRAM matters more than GPU speed
  • If experiencing texture pop-in, increase TextureBudget in game settings or gameconfig.xml
  • Consider using the Lite version if running many other texture mods simultaneously

Features

• 4K road textures • Realistic markings • Low performance impact • Works with graphics mods

Installation Guide

1. Install OpenIV 2. Download LA Roads 3. Replace textures via Edit Mode

Requirements
